What is a ceremony?

Ceremony creates a container to honor, acknowledge and celebrate our lives and the people we share them with. It creates connection through the sacred intention of ritual.

What is a ritual?

Ritual is a conscious act of recognizing life changes and blessing that which is shifting and changing. Often referred to as the "language of the soul”, ritual is the conduit which makes the ordinary extraordinary by calling in Spirit to bring us to the present moment.

It is with utmost respect and admiration for Reverend Laura Young that I recommend her services for life’s most celebratory events such as a wedding or for life’s most sad and difficult events, such as a memorial service. Her counsel has brought me clarity and self understanding on countless occasions.

My son suddenly and tragically died in early October 2019.  Reverend Laura sat with me and my family in the emergency room on the night of his death. She comforted me as a friend and spiritual conduit. She guided my family and I in prayer for his spiritual transcendence, and helped each of us begin our own personal journey of grief and acceptance.  Two weeks later, Rev. Laura delivered the most heartfelt and eloquent eulogy and skillfully led a beautiful Celebration of Life service for my son. I am profoundly grateful to Rev. Laura for her wisdom and natural ability. Her divine connection radiates deep compassion and understanding for the human soul. Her love was felt by us all!

Reverend Cathy truly helped Dave and I to develop a ceremony and personal vows that were true to us and meaningful.  Her guidance included conversations of thoughtful questions, wisdom, and wholehearted feedback in meetups prior to the wedding. Cathy supported us in trusting our own intuition and in being creative so we could find ways to honestly make the day an expression of who we are and the way we want to live our lives together and as individuals;  that being both in celebration of the joyful times and in respect for the difficult ones.  On the day(s!) of gathering, I felt 100% confident in Cathy's ability to lead, hold space and spread loving intention for myself, Dave, and our loved ones so that we could all had permission to be free in the moment - free enough to even laugh and shout "Hip Hip Hooray!" at Cathy's smiling cue.  It was sacred and fun.

Last spring Cathy led the memorial service for my husband who had very unexpectedly passed away and left us all in complete disbelief enveloped in deep sadness. In the time leading up to the service she visited me at home with suggestions for the service. She was also very much open to any request I or his family and friends had. She was in close contact with me about all aspects of the service, no detail was overlooked.

The service itself was memorable in such a way as it really brought my husband into the circle of people attending, with plenty of space for his loving quirkiness. Love is really what comes to my mind when I think of the service and Cathy’s wonderful, gentle leading us all in our grief. It could not have been an easy task as she had been a friend of him too. More than a year after it I still get comments about how moved people were and happy to have been a part of it. That would have not been the case without Cathy.

Rev. Laura’s support during the planning and organizing for my Dad's memorial service was above and beyond what I could have hoped for.  She radiates kindness, compassion and light.

I will be forever grateful for her and the insight she had to plan and lead the service in the way that reflected our family’s wishes.

To have someone lead with grace and comfort when grieving is priceless.

Having grown up in the Methodist faith and migrated to a more inter-spiritual practice, Reverend Laura helped me realize a dream I had for my eldest son ever since he was born. She created a beautiful blessing ceremony to celebrate his 16th birthday this year.

I loved having my family at my house to commemorate this rite of passage, to establish our family as his spiritual support system and to honor and bless him. Rev Laura’s skill and intuition created the loving environment for all of this to happen. Our entire family and especially my son were so touched by the ceremony, made very special and personal with a birthday blessing book, and a song created and played by my husband for our son in which everyone participated.

Thank you Rev. Laura for making the whole ceremony heartwarming and lovely. We will do it again when my younger son also turns 16.
